It comes after the President's communications director Anthony Scaramucci was fired just 10 days in the job.

And US economic data has disappointed.

Michael Hewson, chief market analyst at CMC Markets UK,

said: "The latest US economic data would also appear to suggest that the Federal Reserve is unlikely to raise rates again this year, after another core PCE number that showed that inflationary pressure remains benign, coming in at 1.5 per cent in June.

"US personal incomes also fell back from 0.3 per cent in May to 0 per cent in June pushing the US dollar to new 14 month low on its trade weighted index."
